Flooding Happens Everywhere

1. More Common Than Many Think

Flooding is the most common natural disaster in the U.S., and it’s not limited to coastal areas. About 25% of claims come from low- to moderate-risk zones, including parts of New York.

2. What Causes Flooding

Floods can result from hurricanes, heavy rain, snowmelt, or flash flooding. Just two inches of water can cause over $10,000 in damage.

3. What Flood Insurance Covers

Flood insurance covers direct physical loss from:

  • Overflow of inland or tidal waters

  • Surface water runoff

  • Mudflows

Flood damage is not covered by standard homeowners insurance and requires a separate policy.

4. Availability in New York

Flood insurance is available statewide, including Long Island for homeowners, renters, condos, and commercial properties through the NFIP, with coverage limits up to $250,000 for structures and $100,000 for contents.

What Our Customers Say:

Brooks-Waterburn Corp and its agents and staff understand the needs of small businesses like mine. They are always available when needed and their experts have answers to the many difficult questions owners may have. They were flexible when there was a glitch with my business account causing a payment to be 1 minute late and urged me to not stress at all which made me feel very valued. I have no experience filing a claim with the Firm, however I would expect nothing less than excellence based on each and every one of my past experiences with their knowable, courteous, and professional staff.
